Electrical Infrared Thermography Level II

Why is an infrared thermography report necessary?

Effective 2022 in Miami-Dade and 2023 in Broward County, an infrared thermography inspection is required for electrical systems operating at 400 amps or greater and must be performed by a Level II or higher certified electrical infrared thermographer who has the experience and qualifications to recognize and document thermal anomalies in commercial electrical systems.

Miami-Dade/Broward counties require an infrared thermography inspection with a written report to be submitted with the 40 year recertification electrical report.

Our Level II Certified Thermographers will inspect the following electrical components to determine if they are operating within the specified thermal range: Switchgear, Switchgear, Switchgear, Disconnects, VFDS, Starters, Raceways, Control Panels, Timers, Exhaust Fans, Transformers, Metering Centers, Splices boxes, automatic and manual transfer switches.

Once we complete the infrared thermography inspection, our team will prepare a report with annotated images showing areas of observed deficiencies that may require repair or maintenance. Our colleagues are available to submit a proposal for construction documents that may be required to obtain permits for electrical repairs.

Inspection Report

Electrical infrared inspection reports will illustrate field conditions and potential electrical anomalies present/observed.

Why is infrared thermography useful?

  • Prevent electrical breakdowns before they cause a fire

  • Detect overloaded and undersized circuits

  • Identifies circuit breakers that need immediate replacement

  • You notice missing or damaged insulation

  • Heat loss and air infiltration in walls, ceilings, floors, windows and doors

  • Water and moisture intrusion that could lead to mold

  • Leaks in the air conditioning compressor

  • Under fastening and/or missing framing elements structural defects

  • Broken seals on double pane windows

  • Loss of energy and efficiency

  • Hazardous smoke leaks

  • Damaged or malfunctioning radiant heating systems

  • Unknown plumbing leaks

  • Overheated equipment

  • Roof Leaks

  • Ice Accumulation Problems
